4-Cs Framework Developed

HPMT presents the 4Cs Framework as a guide that healthcare professionals can follow and apply to their day-to-day practice as a means to:

– Improve staff members’ self-esteem

– Decrease stress and anxiety levels in workplaces

– Improve staff members’ mood and morale

– Help colleagues’ minds to rest and recover

– Enhance work resilience and develop abilities to cope with workplace adversity

Many factors contribute towards great teamwork, leading to stronger and more successful organisations, and healthcare settings are no exception.

Compassion – The ability to understand teammates’ feelings is essential. Compassion allows individuals to open up whenever help is needed. Support can be offered in good time, building stronger rapport not just with patients but amongst healthcare professionals of any level.

Communication – Effective communication without any restrictions makes information flow smoothly from seniors to juniors and vice versa. Not only does clear communication create a healthier work environment; it also ensures that patient care is safely delivered, through better collaboration.

Connection – Robust communication fosters strong connections within organisations. A connected team is more powerful when faced with challenges. Delegation is easy, hardships are shared and workload is fairly distributed, reducing stress levels at work.

Competence – When all three components above are met, a competent team is produced. Competence, which is the cornerstone of successful organisations, is not acquired in classrooms and universities alone and cannot begin and end there but must be continually growing, developing and adapting to changing circumstances. It is vitally important that organisations continue to develop their staff’s knowledge, skills and abilities through mandatory training and continuing professional development.

Consistently embedding our 4Cs framework in your day-to-day practices will increase successful outcomes at your workplace, safeguarding both staff and patient care.
